The event marks the official relaunch of the Ocean Conservation APPG – a collaborative voice for the ocean in Westminster. The Ocean Conservation APPG brings together charities, NGOs, marine conservationists, scientists, academics, MPs, ministers, business leaders and other key stakeholders into a participatory space where expertise, ideas and networking converge to help better protect the marine environment.
The event will unveil the group’s three-year strategy and present SAS’s #GenerationSea campaign, including a screening of our widely acclaimed short film ‘The Creature’. We will also be bringing ‘The Creature’ to Westminster earlier in the day (9am-11am TBC) for MPs and supporters to see as part of our growing campaign urging more action to protect marine life, stop plastic pollution, take action on climate change and protect vast swathes of our ocean.
We are pleased to confirm our list of speakers for the event as:
- Steve Double MP – Chair of the Ocean Conservation All Party Parliamentary Group
- Professor Alice Roberts – Biologist, BBC presenter
- Hugo Tagholm – Chief Executive, Surfers Against Sewage
